In the footsteps of ABBA on the ABBAMANIA THE SHOW media tour 2022
The tour takes our ABBAMANIA THE SHOW team to Stockholm and the Pop House Hotel, located above the ABBA Museum. ABBA THE MUSEUM is a magical place, where visitors can look back on 50 years of ABBA history, admiring sights like original band costumes and golden discs. The new installation on “ABBA Voyage” catapults this history of the most successful pop group of all time right into the present day.
Next stop: the Julius Kronberg Studio at the Skansen open-air museum. It was here that the cover photo was created for the album “The Visitors”. All the paintings that appear on the record sleeve are still there in their original condition, promising a mystical atmosphere.
A journey through Stockholm in the company of ABBA biographer Carl Magnus Palm led to many places that are connected with the history of ABBA. The location of their first performance, backgrounds of music videos and album covers, districts where the band members used to live and the venue of the legendary appearance celebrating the wedding of King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and his “Dancing Queen” Silvia… Carl Magnus Palm offers insights into the glamorous, glittering world of ABBA. One particular highlight is a visit to the Atlantis recording studio – which was once the Metronom Studio, where the greatest of the ABBA hits were produced.
ABBA aristocracy meets at the Gröna Lund Theatre! ABBA saxophonist Ulf Andersson (who is taking part in ABBAMANIA THE SHOW) is joined by ABBA guitarist Janne Schaffer, ABBA costume designer Owe Sandström, ABBA bassist Mike Watson, ABBA sound engineer Claes af Geijerstam, “I have a dream” chorus members Maija Balodis Karlsson and Merit Gabriel and Tonny Roth, once a member of Björn’s band The Hootenanny Singers. Together they look back at 50 years of ABBA, sharing their favourite stories on a walk down memory lane. ABBAMANIA THE SHOW conductor Hauke Wendt and musical directors Katja Nord and Camilla Dahlin are also part of the event.
